Antique Secretary

Trying to get information on this antique secretary.   As far as we know it was brought from Iceland to Canada in the late 1800s or early 1900s and migrated with my wife's grand parents to from Iceland to Canada, and then to the US.

We haven't found any kind of production markings on it so it may be homemade.   

 

This is a picture of the back.

 

Friends who are woodworkers have told me not to refinish it because it may loose  it's value.
